You are wearing 20% of your clothes 80% of the time

Monday 9th January 2023 is the first day of my Shop Your Wardrobe 21 Day Style Challenge. The challenge is completely free and is my gift to you to help ease you into the new year with a bit of fun. It’s a simple concept but it really does give you a post-Christmas boost during the dark and gloomy January days now that the excitement of the festive season is over.

Did you know that most of us are wearing 20% of our clothes 80% of the time?

You possibly have a wardrobe stuffed full of clothes, but you only ever wear the same few outfits on repeat?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone it’s a common problem. It’s very easy to get stuck in a rut and to wear the same old clothes week in, week out.

21 Day Style Challenge helps you shake up your style

The aim of the challenge is to guide you through trying new things; to shake up, suss out or discover your unique personal style. It’s a group coaching session around colour and clothes empowering you to experiment.

The challenge helps you plan ahead and dig deep into the depths of your wardrobe so that things you haven’t worn for ages might get an airing.
It also gives you the opportunity to reflect and analyse your likes and dislikes so that you are defining and refining your personal style along the way.
It’s about giving you the confidence to explore and play with items that you already own so that you define and refine your personal style.
As well as me sharing tips and tricks each day it’s interesting to see other people’s responses to that day’s challenge. You get loads of inspiration and ideas of things to try yourself that might jazz up your outfits.

I ran my first 21 Day Style Challenge in 2016 and it was a great way to brighten up a gloomy January. I’ve gone on to run several challenges since then and what blows me away every time is the way that the community comes together.

You can connect with likeminded women in a safe, supportive environment in the Style Sisterhood Facebook group, which is an amazing, energised community of fabulous women – highly recommended whether it’s challenge time or not! Us women forget just how much we can support and inspire each other just by being together with a common purpose. We understand each other and the power of coming together as a community can be incredible. There’s always a lovely feeling of camaraderie generated between everyone who takes part.

By working through the daily challenges over the 21 days you will learn so much about yourself, what you like and why you like it – it will really help you focus on understanding your personal style.

Everything will take place in my Style Sisterhood Facebook group. I’ll be doing short lives to announce the challenges, sharing tips and advice and answering any questions (and there are a few mini video tutorials thrown in too). Look out for the announcements in the group.

How does the 21 Day Style Challenge work?

There is a daily challenge of wearing *something*, for example day 1 is “NECKLACE”. Then everyone posts a selfie in the daily thread of themselves wearing their chosen necklace, with a bit of narrative describing why they like it, how it makes them feel wearing it, any back story behind it etc. You can ask for/share ideas and advice too if you like.

I encourage you to give compliments if you see things you like BUT only comment on posts with any other type of feedback (even if you feel it’s constructive) when it’s asked for – NEVER ASSUME others want your opinion. Remember we each rise by lifting others.

It’s important to follow these group rules at all times:

Respect everyone's privacy: Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group.
Be kind and courteous: We're all in this together to create a welcoming, supportive environment. Let's treat everyone with respect. Opinions are only ever opinions and kindness, and diplomacy are always required.
Be nice: Choose your words carefully when giving feedback and opinions. Be honest but use tact and diplomacy. Words stick. Don't be the mean girl who gives a fellow member a complex.

You might want to download and print off a copy of the workbook or make notes in a journal or notebook.

All you need to do is give us a wave and introduce yourself in the Style Sisterhood Facebook Group and become part of the challenge tribe.

Most people post every day, others occasionally, the level of engagement is up to you – Above all enjoy!

What previous challengers have said...
I love running the challenge – it’s awesome but don’t just take my word for it…

‘Loved Lisa’s way of getting me to think about accessories, pattern and colour.’– Julia

‘It really makes you look at what you’ve got and how you can wear it instead of mu tendency to wear the same thing day in day out and largely ignore what you have. It’s fun to see how others face the challenge and is a friendly & supportive community and the hints/tips/guidance you get from Lisa can be revelation…’- Lisa M

‘I loved the tips, bite size learning, challenges and acceptance. Lots of encouragement and humour, support not shaming.’ Anne

‘Good fun with a group of positive and supportive folks but also learnt lots from the experience.’ Gail

‘Learned more about colour and why things work than I imagined there was to learn.’ Vicky

‘It really made me think about what I was wearing.’ Clare

‘One of the best things about the 21 Day Style Challenge is that it helps you plan your outfits in advance. It's fun but also makes getting dressed easier each day.’ Kaz
